Points of View Ep.1
9 05 2007
Hello to everybody! Welcome to Points of View where all your opinions matter. Since this is my first entry for this “so-called” department, I think it would be nice if we talk about blogging…
We all know that we have our “freedom of expression”. When web blogs started to exist, many people started using this medium where they can share their stories and opinions. But up to what extent can we exercise this “freedom of expression”? In what terms can blogging be bad?
First of all, I am really happy that web blogs were invented. I tried managing a personal site before, and it is really hard to maintain compared to a blog where almost everything you need is already there. All you have to do is to post entries and customize the design of your blog. I am also happy because I can share my ideas to many people through the internet, plus they can interact with me through comments.
I do believe in freedom of expression. I believe that there’s nothing wrong if you criticize people or things in your blog. But sometimes, we should take note of the terms “constructive” and “destructive” criticisms. But we have all different opinions. That’s a fact. It’s hard to let others believe in your opinion if they have a different one. Then there comes the word “respect”. We should learn to respect the opinions of others. It’s nice that we have all different opinions because it give us the opportunity to think and consider others’ ideas.
Another issue also is the sharing of mp3 files. I do admit that I’m happy surfing blogs who offer free mp3 downloads. But what does the law say about this? If this is bad, why are there services over the internet that let you upload such files?
To end this post, I just like to make some points: For me, blog is a one of the products of technology that I am happy for. I do believe in freedom of expression, but we should know how to use it properly. And lastly, we must learn to respect others’ opinions so that they’ll respect us in return.
Fellow bloggers, you can share your points of view by leaving a comment. Your opinions matter.

Having a blog does open us up to a lot of strangers. It’s unavoidable that bloggers feel they have the license to express themselves fully to others, there are others too that who would sometimes feel as though they know better and leave you comments which you consider out of the line already.
constructive or not, I’m ok with it. But hopefully no one will give me a comment that will dampen my day
hindi ko gusto ang last statement ko, icorrect ko lang..
It’s their views whatever it is, im ok with it
that’s better..nood na ng Spiderman!
I received a comment once about the way I write on my blog but he did not posted it on my site, he emailed it to me. I knew that he’s one of my friends at school. I replied that I reach more readers if my entries were written in English among others. Back at school, I intentionally shared it to him, I even printed “his” email. After he read it, I said “Sino kaya ‘yan? Ngayun ko lang nalaman na kayabangan pala pag nag-e-English. Ikaw, what do you think?”. He had that “look”, and that made my week.
YOU BLOG TO EXPRESS NOT TO IMPRESS hehe
Cat
